My boat (green one) out in the bay!
I thought the easiest way would be to go to the bank, get cash and then pay for the boat in cash. With a bigger purchase I would definitely suggest a different way of doing that. Maybe use an escrow company or specialized attorney to handle payments. You want to be safe, not sorry!
With my dinghy in the van I was on my way to pay for the boat. After that I planned on actually rowing out to the boat and do some clean-up and just look around a bit more. For some odd reason I had totally miscalculated my time. Rounding down a few times instead of up caused me to arrive over an hour later than was agreed. In addition to that, I had forgotten to take Judi’s phone number with me.
By the time I got to the boat ramp, there was no Judi, no Murray. Oh no! I tried to find Judi in the phone book, but had no luck. Then I remembered, my note book was right next to the phone at home. How could I get to it? Walking back to the van Leighann thought we could call our neighbor and ask her to get the number for us. Great idea!
I tried to start the van and drive back to the phone, but the van would not start. Oh no! Not now! So we had to walk all the way back to the phone. Leighann called our neighbor and got the number. Then she called Judi and told her the van won’t start. What a day!
Judi and Murray came to the boat ramp. Murry checked the van here and there and wrrrrooom it started up. He’s a mechanic, great! So we followed Judi and Murray home. Murray checked the van again and noticed the alternator belt was missing. It must have fallen off on the way to the bay. Fortunately he had another belt and put it on. The solenoid on the starter was also broken. This must have been my lucky day because Murray also had a used solenoid and put it in. The van has been working fine since. Thanks Murray!
After the van was taken care off Judi and Murray signed the sales contract and I handed over my big wad of cash cash. I bought her! She’s all mine now! The boat’s name is MurandaJ which is a combination of all their names. On top of the sails, anchor chain and rigging parts that Murray said came with the boat, they also gave me some oars for the dinghy and a 9.8HP electric start Mercury outboard. Awesome! I might not have to row for that long.
We had a nice cup of coffee and talked about all kinds of things. By the time we left, it was too late to go to the boat. But that was OK, at least the boat was mine now.
